I love writing, especially memories, poems, and short stories, and I remember how surprised I was to become the Winner of the CBC Cape Breton Radio Poetry Contest!
That was many years ago, and yet it still holds a special place in my heart and soul.
Following that honour, and an On Air Interview, I was asked to write a Community Happenings Column in the Victoria Standard Newspaper. The Newspaper in Baddeck, Victoria County, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia that did the article I’ve posted above.
I’ll always remember what the person who chose Me and My Poem as Winner had to say, He said, “There were a lot of good Poems. What got me about Yours was that in the letter that accompanied it, You said, ‘My poems are in my life, and my life is in my Poems’.”
